The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Professor Kayode Adebowale, mni, FAS, inaugurated a Truth and Reconciliation Committee on April 7, 2026, at the Vice-Chancellor’s Board Room.
The committee was established to address misunderstandings, grievances, and declining trust within the University community. Its mandate includes investigating sources of conflict, receiving confidential submissions, documenting complaints, and facilitating mediation among affected parties.
Emeritus Professor O.A. Ojengbede chairs the committee, which brings together senior academics and administrative staff. Members include Professor R.A. Oderinde, Professor E.O. Ogunkola, Professor Arinpe G. Adejumo, Dr. E.O. Garuba, Dr. O.A. Gbadegesin, Mrs. Florence O. Adesanya, and Dr. N.J. Bello.
In addition to resolving disputes, the committee is tasked with recommending administrative and structural measures to prevent future conflicts and foster mutual respect across the University.
